About Houston Restaurant Week
The Houston Restaurant Weeks an annual fundraising event for the largest food bank in the US: the Houston Food Bank.
It is one of the biggest events in Houston, running for just over a month from August 01 to September 03.
For local food enthusiasts it’s probably the best time of the year as hundreds of the top restaurants in Houston present a culinary extravaganza featuring specially priced brunches, lunches and dinners.
The event is organised by volunteers chaired by Cleverly Stone, and restaurants that participate can donate the money raised to the Houston Food Bank based on how many meals they sell over this period.
This year fixed prices dinners are available for $45 and $35; lunch and brunch for $20. Restaurants will then be donating between $3 and $7 for each Houston Restaurant Week meal they sell.
All proceeds from this volunteer effort go to the Houston Food Bank and since its inception in 2003 it has raised over $10 million for the food bank.
Houston Restaurant Week 2017 saw 280 participating restaurants, with this years quota announced on July 15th.

An Authentic Italian Restaurant in Houston
The Mascalzone restaurant chain, following the outstanding success of their two locations in London, England opened the Houston branch in 2014.
Founded by former Olympic Boxer Andrea Magi, the restaurant offers a modern take on classic Italian dishes, such as
Scallopina alla Giudia (Veal Escalopes in a White Wine and Lemon Sauce with deep fried artichokes) and Tagliatelle all Buongustaia (Fresh pasta in traditional meat sauce with fresh cream and green peas).
After announcing his retirement from professional boxing in the late 1990s the time felt good for Magi to turn back to a passion that was always in his blood. Magi’s grandfather was a chef by profession, and his “Auntie,” a private chef who worked for opera singer Luciano Pavarotti.
